Washington DC

After a short stopover in Philly for the weekend (mainly at Dirty Franks - including breakfast there on Sunday at 4pm), Washington DC was next.

Canberra on steroids! So much stuff on their history and in their museums that you need to spend weeks in each museum to look and read most of it.

We were going to write more about what we did but to get this thing currentish, just photos and descriptions...

The only decent view of the front of the White House was from the top of the Washington Monument. We walked around the whole thing looking for a better view but all we got was sunburnt

  2. Greg says,

Awesome. I've often heard that the museums are unbelievable and there are a lot in other parts of the country too. What about the most important type, Jake - car museums. There would be one or two, wouldn't there ? Plus , just curious, there is a gold storage joint in NY city that has about half what Fort Knox has, maybe more. Does that figure in the tourism info ? Not a lot to see I suppose. Maybe you could explain to them that you're all the way from Oz, you've always been a huge fan, and who knows , they might give you a little brick to take home with you. Talk to one of the guards, not the officious pricks out the front.

PS You write good little stories too. Thanks for all the info.

  5. That's pretty much it! Scarf and joggers everyday! Jake says its sensible because we have been averaging 30,000 steps per day (we bought a pedometer in philly). I'd rather not listen to jake say "i told u so" every day when i complain about my feet hurting from wearing fashionable shoes!
