Praha

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and a very cool old place. Although it is now part of the EU, it hasnt adopted the € yet. So here is Dom with half of our withdrawl... 1500 Czech Krowns is $90 Australian. Compared to anywhere else we've been and even Australia, the Czech Rep is very cheap

The medieval church within the castle, complete with gargoyles and scary laughing men!

And inside the church

The main square in Prague, complete with big screen for the World Cup showing every game live. We were here again the next night to watch Australia get pummeled by zee Germans. 40 Aussies from the hostel surrounded by thousands of Germans - not the most enjoyable game

But that didn't stop us celebrating

The Infant Jesus of Prague. This little guy has saved Prague from many battles over the years

On the walking tour, we learned that many of the synagogues and religious buildings in Prague (which had a very large Jewish population) survived WWII because it was Hitlers instructions to bring religious artifacts here from all over Europe and to not bomb these buildings as this city was going to be a memorial to an extinct race. Now they have one of the largest collections of Jewish bits and pieces in the world.

Prague is also home to the most over-rated tourist attraction in Europe. The Astronomical clock which goes off every hour was a huge event a two centuries ago, now its just pathetic

'just pathetic' seems a bit harsh but you are probably right again mate.

Another awesome city. I was told once that it has more theatres , not cinemas , than any other city in the world per person or per square k. It has been the cultural capitol of europe in the past when Check was the king of manufacturing. Home of the Bata company once too. Yay to manufacturing , technology and machines I say ! But I digress.
