Venice of the north...
Very cool little medieval village. 20,000 people within the walls and 15 minutes to walk anywhere inside.
Bruges was 'occupied' by the Nazi in WWII not invaded with brute force. Zee Germans thought it was such a nice place (and better tactically to keep it standing) they spared it from bombing raids...
Part of the outside wall of the City Hall - crazy detail!
Another canal
Church of the Holy Blood. It looks like it's been wedged in next to City Hall but it bigger out the back. This church has a glass tube containg a piece of cloth with Christs blood on it. It was traded for lace with the Ottoman Empire in the 13th century
On a bike tour through and around the town
Getting the message? Lots of canals!

Good to see the hat and scarf is getting worn Dom! Love Issy.
ReplyDeleteOh she's eating a chocolate "D" not "deer" Isabelle...
ReplyDeleteBruges looks beautiful!
The hat and scarf gets worn almost every day Belle! They are the most valuable accessories I have in my bag!! My hat keeps the sun away in the heat and keeps my head warm in the cold and the scarf does the same for my shoulders. I think I would be very sunburnt without them!
ReplyDeleteI said 'D' Steph?! haha dont know how you heard "deer"
ReplyDeleteWell its freezing here last night me and vivie were watching the world cup and we really wanted to make hot chocolate but there was no milo so we found your max brenner chocolate that jake gave you and we melted it and mixed it with milk. Don't be mad at us cos your getting all the good Belgium chocolate
